The municipality and current neighborhood of Boston known as Roxbury was one of the first towns that were ever founded by the Massachusetts Bay Colony back in 1630. The Boston Latin Academy, Roxbury Preparatory Charter School, Roxbury Charter High Public School, Roxbury Community College, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary’s Center for Urban Ministerial Education, Emmanuel College’s Spiritual Retreat Center, and the Eastern Nazarene College are also all in the neighborhood. The Boston Public Library operates a branch in Roxbury, while other points of interest worth visiting are the exciting Franklin Park Zoo, the Shirley-Eustis House, the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics & Science, and the Roxbury Historic Markers.
