Newton is its own city in the lovely Middlesex County of Massachusetts. This upmarket area is only 7 miles from the downtown of Boston, making it incredibly efficient and easy for people who need to work within the Hub. Newton’s closest neighbors is Watertown and Brighton, while the city of Newton as a whole has a population of 85,146 as of the 2010 Census, making it the eleventh largest city in the Bay State.

Newton is essentially more of a city of thirteen villages as opposed to a city centering around one main downtown area. These areas, Chestnut Hill, Auburndale, Newton Centre, Newton Corner, Newton Lower Falls, Newton Highlands, Newton Upper Falls, Newtonville, Nonantum, Oak Hill, Thompsonville, Waban, and West Newton all offer their own distinct character and neighborhood atmosphere.

Within these aforementioned areas there are roughly 25 preschools, 15 elementary schools, 4 public middle schools, 2 public high schools, 8 private high schools, and 6 schools for higher education including Boston College. Newton also features the Newton-Wellesley Hospital, which the U.S. News & World Report ranked as the 13th best in the Boston metro area’s countless hospital facilities. There are also an array of places of worship for various faiths and beliefs in Newton.

Some of the valuable points of interest in the city for visitors and locals alike include Crystal Lake, The Jackson Homestead, Heartbreak Hill, plenty of famous and challenging golf courses, Echo Bridge, Norumbega Park, Auburndale Cove, the Chestnut Hill Reservoir, Bullough’s Pond, specific designated scenic roads, The First Baptist Church in Newton Centre, and the WHDH-TV Tower.
