Dorchester Real Estate

The neighborhood of Dorchester is one of Boston’s finest. A place steeped in history, the area has seen quite the revitalization in the real estate market over recent years. The historical diversity is evident from the moment one enters the neighborhood. The architecture, defined by old Victorian homes owned by the wealthy are met with updated multi-family buildings that historically were for immigrants yet today are home to local families and young working professionals.

One of the main streets in Dorchester, known simply as Dorchester Avenue, connects many of the close-knit neighborhoods with the booming commercial districts full of restaurants and job opportunities. Other well known areas of Dorchester include the higher-end Savin Hill, Wellesley Park, Lower Mills, Jones Hill, and Ashmont.

Residents benefit from falling under the Boston Public School system, with an array of lovely public and parochial institutions to choose from. The University of Massachusetts at Boston and the John F. Kennedy Library are also located here. The Boston Public Library system also operates out of Dorchester with six great branches.

With a population of at least 92,000, residents benefit from the convenience of having five Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) on the Red Line. There are also five stations on the Ashmont-Mattapan High Speed Line, five stations on the Fairmount Commuter Rail Line, bus services, the Interstate 93 that runs through Dorchester, and more. As a whole, commuting to work or travelling in and around Greater Boston is incredibly simple and is yet another thing that makes Dorchester real estate so valuable.
